volume up, volume down, play, record and forward

visually interesting rebranding move from avid. offering the industry leading editing tools this makes perfect sense. whether it is smart to make such a big leap or departure from where they were is impossible to judge without knowing the insights but visually nice job. although the details like spacing and top and bottom lines could have been a bit better.

looks like viva to me..
strange that a brand like this is visually so similar to a well known tv station,, even though its regional.. check: http://www.viva.tv/

the viva logo is somewhat similar but i don’t think anyone outside europe knows the tv station. more importantly though i think there a fundamental differences in where the logos come from. my assumption is that the viva logo was mostly created out of visual thought using the symmetry of the letters to create a pure and simple fun logo. the avid logo on the other hand is based on core functions related to the product and basically says what they do in the way they write – that i found pretty smart.

ah. i did not know that. seems like i have to overthink my opinion. hehe nice. anyways - it looks like a copy to the untrained eye.. geographically it’s going to play no role whatsoever.. youre right.
